* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  THE DAY FIRE BURN AREA IN  
  NORTHWESTERN LOS ANGELES COUNTY AND
  NORTHERN VENTURA COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA

* UNTIL 315 AM PDT

* AT 142 AM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  A LARGE AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY SHOWERS AND EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS
  IN THE ANTELOPE VALLEY AND THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF LOS ANGELES
  COUNTY MOVING SOUTHWESTWARD INTO THE DAY FIRE BURN AREA. THIS
  AREA OF RAINFALL HAS BEEN INTENSIFYING BETWEEN 115 AM PDT AND
  140 AM PDT...AND RAINFALL RATES WILL LIKELY BE HIGH ENOUGH
  TO PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING AND DEBRIS FLOWS ACROSS THE DAY FIRE
  BURN AREA.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO LOCKWOOD
  VALLEY

RESIDENTS AND MOTORISTS IN AND BELOW RECENTLY BURNED AREAS SHOULD BE
ALERT TO HEAVY MUD AND DEBRIS FLOWS WHICH MAY BLOCK ROADS AND
CULVERTS. POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS FLOODING AND PROPERTY LOSS COULD
RESULT IN AREAS WHERE RUNOFF IS RESTRICTED OR BLOCKED.

DEBRIS FLOW...MUD SLIDES...ROCK SLIDES ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM.
MUD SLIDES AND ROCK SLIDES CAN POTENTIALLY TRAP AND KILL PEOPLE CAUGHT
IN THEIR PATH.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE
UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS
SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

* AT 1235 PM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAIN APPROACHING HIGHWAY 95 BETWEEN
  INTERSTATE 40 AND THE NEVADA STATE LINE. THESE STORMS WERE MOVING
  SLOWLY...AND WILL AFFECT THE SAME STRETCH OF HIGHWAY 95 WHICH WAS
  FLOODED EARLIER THIS MORNING.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE INCH ARE POSSIBLE IN THE WARNED
AREA.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.

* AT 230 PM PDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING
  OVER EXTREME EASTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY. THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY
  PATROL REPORTS THAT HIGHWAY 95 IS STILL CLOSED BETWEEN INTERSTATE
  40 AND NEVADA HIGHWAY 163. IN ADDITION...GOFFS ROAD IS COVERED
  WITH ROCKS AND MUD DEPOSITED BY FLOODWATERS. THE HEAVIEST RAIN HAS
  MOVED EAST OF THIS AREA...AND WAS AFFECTING NEEDLES AT 230 PM.
  FLOODING WILL CONTINUE ON HIGHWAY 95 THROUGH 4 PM AS RUNOFF FROM
  EARLIER STORMS CONTINUES TO FLOW DOWNHILL...AND FLOODING MAY ALSO
  AFFECT THE NEEDLES AREA AS THE HEAVY RAIN MOVES THROUGH THERE.

  SEVERAL ROADS...INCLUDING HIGHWAY 95...NEEDLES HIGHWAY...AND GOFFS
  ROAD REMAINED CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING. DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED THAT
  THE HEAVY RAIN WAS MOVING EAST AWAY FROM THE AREA...BUT RUNOFF
  FROM HIGHER TERRAIN WAS STILL OCCURRING...AND FLOODING IS LIKELY
  TO CONTINUE THROUGH 5 PM.
